Allure interviews celebrity dermatologists and estheticians to discover the “fastest craziest ways Hollywood skin pros eradicate zits, cellulite, and lines” for the article “11 Hottest Celebrity Skin Treatments” by Jolene Edgar.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Lasers are a great way to reduce fine lines, shrink the appearance of pores, diminish brown spots and leave the skin with “an immediate glow,” says one celebrity dermatologist. “Some stars stop in the morning of an event as part of their red-carpet prep,” he explains.

Full Body Facials

While most people think laser facials are confined to…well the face, many celebrities need to look their best from head-to-toe. That is why Victoria Secret Fashion models, opt for a “gentle laser treatment,” known as a head to toe facial, the day of a fashion show. Allure interviews one NYC dermatologist about this “day of” beauty treatment. “The experience starts with microdermabrasion followed by a ‘gentle laser treatment, which encourages fibroblasts to make new collagen…A peel comes next—20 percent glycolic acid spiked with calming lavender essence. Skin is then doused with a serum that helps build collagen, illuminated with low-energy light that slows its breakdown, and topped with a rich cream laced with tremella mushroom extract, a humectant that can hold 500 times its weight in water.’” While pretty extravagant sounding, celebrities swear by the results saying “skin looks dewy and radiant right away, and the buildup of collagen is long-lasting.”

Instant Skin Tightening

While plastic surgery use to be a comon celebrity beauty treatment, more and more stars are opting for less invasive procedures. As Allure explains “in Tinseltown, scalpels are becoming yesterday’s news. Surgery isn’t all it’s cracked up to be” One alternative to invasive cosmetic surgeries, is a professional facial from a reputable skin spa, which for one celebrity dermatologist includes: “an exfoliating retinoid peel, Intense Pulsed Light (which targets brown spots and broken capillaries), microdermabrasion with an infusion of the antioxidants vitamin C and niacinamide, and, finally, radio frequency to firm the face and neck.”

“Skin tightening is huge in Hollywood,” one celebrity dermatologist explains. “I’ve done several actresses’ eyelids and brows right before red-carpet events because instantly, the skin looks incredibly taut, and there’s no downtime.”

One of the more popular devices for skin tightening is Ultherapy. Allure explains that “results are most visible in the 48 hours after treatment. For an effect that lasts about a year, four to five monthly treatments are needed.”

Cosmetic Fillers

In accordance with looking fabulous from head to toe, many celebs are taking years off of their hands with hyaluronic acid based cosmetic fillers. Cosmetic fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane have long been plumping up lips, filling in wrinkles, and restoring symmetry to the facial area. But “hands are another big concern” when it comes to anti-aging skin care, explains one celebrity doc. “Lately I’ve been working double-time on celebrities’ hands, making them look as youthful as their faces,” she tells Allure.

Besides smoothing hand wrinkles, skin spas can help reduce the appearance of aged hands by using Intense Pulsed Lasers to diminish brown spots or age spots. Allure explains that after hands are treated with a skin resurfacing laser, “splotches darken and flake off a week later, leaving no evidence of sun damage.”

Botox

The “frozen forehead” that is sometimes associated with an over-zealous botox job is a big faux pas in Hollywood. One celebrity dermatologist admits “I’ve had patients tell me that it’s in their contract: If they get Botox, they could be fired,”

To maintain flexibility and expression, dermatologists are utilizing a micro-injection technique when administering Botox. It involves injecting “tiny amounts of the toxin into multiple areas of the forehead for a softer, more relaxed look,” explains Allure. This produces a more natural looking effect.

Liquid Nitrogen Facials

There are many types of facials, from lasers to chemical peels, to exuberant gold face masks, to the strange Hollywood craze: liquid nitrogen facials. Promoted for killing bacteria that can lead to blemishes and break outs, a liquid nitrogen facial involves applying “gauze dipped in freezing-cold liquid nitrogen to kill bacteria and soothe the skin,” explains one skin care expert.

Skin Spa Facials

Of course many stars take a more traditional route when it comes to their face.  Shani Darden, celebrity dermatologist, explains her facial regimen when treating Jessica Alba to “stave off breakouts” she performs “extractions with acid—which typically means doing two peels in one treatment…’After cleansing, I do a glycolic and lactic acid peel, extractions, and then apply lactic acid, just as a flash peel, neutralizing it after 30 seconds…It leaves Jess’s skin clear and smooth with a really nice glow.’ “

Body-Fat Tightening

One of the most popular non-invasive procedures among celebrities involve skin tightening, or fat reduction. According to one celebrity dermatologist “We’ll essentially redo the entire surface of their body.”

The total body treatment begins with Thermage, which uses radiofrequency to tighten loose skin.  Then on to fat reduction using CoolSculpting, which Allure reports is “a fat-freezing device that obliterates belly bulges, love handles, and back fat…Six weeks after treatment, patients begin to pee out the metabolized fat.” Celebrities are “so svelte, they can retire their Spanx.”
