If you are prescribed the Semaglutide injections, there are specific injection sites on the body for this medication. Semaglutide shots are typically given as a shot under the skin of the stomach, thighs, or upper arms. It is a good idea to use a different body area each time you give yourself the injection. Clinical trials have shown Semaglutide is an effective obesity treatment. Patients receiving a 2.4 mg dose lost a mean of 6% of their weight after three months. After six months, the majority of patients in a cohort study lost 5-10% of their weight.2 Some even lost 20% or more.
Semaglutide injections are in a class of medications called incretin mimetics. They work by helping the pancreas release the correct amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high. Insulin helps move sugar away from the blood into other body tissues, where it is used as energy.
As previously mentioned, the most comon side effects of Semaglutide include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Although rare, serious side effects are possible—such as allergic reactions. If you are concerned about this drug’s risks or side effects, speak to your provider during a consultation.
Not everyone is eligible for Semaglutide. Doctors can prescribe it for adults dealing with obesity, with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30, or overweight, with a BMI greater than 27, and with weight-related medical issues, including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.
Semaglutide injections and oral tablets require a prescription. Because of this, Semaglutide is not available as an over-the-counter medication.

Laser Cosmetica grew to be the third largest med spa organization in the nation at that time.
In 2010, Ryan founded Body Cosmetica. Body Cosmetica quickly grew to be one of the largest providers of plastic surgery in New York State and expanded to 24 offices across 8 States, all with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgery.
Sarah Bonner is the Beauty Director at SKINNEY Medspa, helping clients create and discuss customized treatment plans based on their needs and desires. Josie Holmes is a Licensed Esthetician and specializes in non-invasive body contouring. She is the SKINNEY MedSpa National Aesthetic Trainer. She also holds a position with Allergan Aesthetics as an Allergan Medical Instructor faculty member. Josie possesses a sharp eye for detail which she uses to her advantage in all of her medical aesthetic treatments. Ellie is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to her experience in aesthetics, Ellie cared for postoperative inpatients following plastic surgery in San Francisco and most recently managed corporate wellness here in Manhattan. Currently, Ellie’s focus is helping her patients make personal improvements with each visit. She understands that mind and body wellness can take many forms – whether it’s adding volume to the cheeks, reducing fine wrinkles, gently contouring the abdomen, or removing unwanted blemishes.
